Trail encircles all
of Bois Blanc South
Trails at Bois Blanc Island offer the joy of walking and running year round; biking in the spring, summer and fall seasons; and cross country skiing during winter.
If you’re feeling ambitious, you can hike White Sands Conservation Area, a long narrow spit that extends for 2km on the south end.
From wild black raspberries to 100-year-old hickory trees and iridescent Kingfisher birds, Bois Blanc Island is known for its showy displays of flora and fauna. Shorebirds such as Great Blue Herons and Kingfishers, old favourites like Song Swallows, Black Swallowtail butterflies, two species of turtle and a treasure trove of wild Carolinian Forest flowers and plants all make their home on Bois Blanc. Wander around with a camera, and you’ll be sure to find beautiful shots.
Par for the Course
Not far from Bois Blanc Island, an incredible range of golf courses entices players to come out for the challenge and reward.
In the north end of Amherstburg, the private Point West Golf Club regularly hosts men’s and women’s amateur championships; Essex Golf & Country Club is on one of Canada’s top 100 golf courses, and has hosted PGA events; Beach Grove Golf & Country Club is right on the shores of Lake St. Clair in Windsor, and offers family memberships and has a winter golf academy.
